My Story
Every story has a beginning. This is mine.
My journey into hypnotherapy began more than twenty-five years ago.
While I was an undergraduate student still trying to figure out who I was and what direction my life would take, I discovered Robert Monroe's Hemi-Sync recordings. They became my first doorway. At first, it was simply curiosity. But what I experienced changed the way I thought about the mind forever.
Through hypnosis and focused states of awareness, I discovered that where we place our attention—and what we consistently allow into our minds—gradually shapes the way we experience ourselves and the world. It changed the way I thought about personal growth. Rather than relying on willpower alone, I began to understand that meaningful change could unfold naturally through intentional awareness, often by changing the way I related to the stories I carried within me.
Things I had once believed I was powerless to influence suddenly felt possible. For the first time, I felt a genuine sense of agency. It opened the door to the idea that we have far more capacity for growth and transformation than we often realize.
As I learned that the mind could change, I also began discovering who I was.
One of those discoveries was a love of stories.
Not simply reading them or hearing them, but understanding them. That realization ultimately led me to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, where I learned to craft stories of my own.
Looking back, it no longer feels like a separate chapter of my life. It was another expression of the same curiosity that first drew me toward hypnosis.
At the time, I thought I was learning to tell stories. Looking back, I can see I was also learning to listen for them.
It was that realization that ultimately led me to become a hypnotherapist.
My curiosity didn't end there. While my journey began with Robert Monroe, I continued exploring the work of Milton Erickson, Carl Jung, and Robert Smith, whose book Quantum Consciousness further expanded my thinking, along with many others who dedicated their lives to understanding the subconscious mind and human potential. As my understanding of our capacity for growth and transformation deepened, one thing became increasingly clear: my greatest fulfillment wasn't simply gaining knowledge—it was helping others discover their own capacity for insight, healing, and transformation.
Today, that journey has come full circle. I still love writing stories, but one of my greatest privileges is listening as people share their own—helping them explore the experiences, beliefs, and patterns that have shaped their lives and discover that the story they've been telling themselves was never the whole story.
I've come to believe that we all live within stories.
The story of who we believe we are.
The story of what's possible.
The story of what we've overcome.
The story of what we've learned.
The story of what we expect from life.
Yet those conscious stories are rarely the whole story.
Beneath them are experiences, beliefs, emotions, and patterns that have shaped us over a lifetime—sometimes in ways we recognize, and sometimes in ways we don't.
Through hypnotherapy, we have an opportunity to explore the deeper stories that shape our lives with curiosity and compassion. As we begin to understand the experiences and patterns that have influenced us, we often discover something remarkable: we are no longer confined to the stories we've inherited or unconsciously repeated.
When we begin to see ourselves more completely, new possibilities begin to emerge. We can move forward with greater clarity, intention, and the freedom to create the next chapter of our lives.
